Realization of beer in plastic bottles in Russia can deny. Fixes restraining brewing company in realization of beer in plastic packaging, may be taken already in the spring Duma session.

The Committee on financial policy and entrepreneurship have contributed to and reviewed by a group of deputies of corrections to the law "On state regulation of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol, alcohol and alkoholittomia products and about the limits of use (drinking) alcoholic products", which include a ban on trade in beer in plastic bottles. The Committee gave a report to the Parliament to accept the configuration in the first reading.

Fixes are gradual limitation retail sale of strong drinks in plastic bottles. Thus, from 1 January 2015 prohibited retail sale of alcoholic beverages with strength exceeding 6% in plastic bottles with size more than half a liter, 1 July 2015 with alcohol content of more than 5% in consumer plastic packaging, larger than 1 liter. As of 1 January 2016 drinks a fortress more than 4% will not be realized in the plastic container of any size.

In the fall of 2013, after the initiative for the prohibition of alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles were announced, the Union of Russian brewers refused from the production of beer in plastic bottles with a volume of more than 2.5 liters and from the use of two-liter bottles for beer, with 6% content of alcohol without waiting for the entry into force of the law. However small brewing company continued to pour their own products in plastic container.

Director of the center of researches Federal and the regional markets of alcohol declares that the adoption of the law will increase the cost manufacturers for glass containers and tin cans. The retail price of a bottle of beer 0.5 liter, according to him, prices could rise by two-three roubles.
