No medications on basis of HIV-infected blood delivered to Moscow Medications, based on HIV-infected blood of woman from Voronezh, didn`t arrive to Moscow. This was declared by director of Federal medico-biological blood center Evgeny Zhirbut.

"There is a strict controlling system in Moscow blood centers. I know that Moscow city blood transfusion center has no contracts with Voronezh. None of components, prepared from infected donor, couldn`t arrive to Moscow", - said an expert during press-conference.

21-year old woman was infected by HIV virus in one of maternity hospitals in Voronezh as a result of donor blood transfusion.

As regional Russian Consumer Inspection administration informed, 35-year old woman since December 24 till May 25 was a blood donor for 8 times. On May 5, woman gave portion of blood at regional station of blood transfusion. Analysis, dated by May 20, revealed HIV-positive result.

Ziirbut reminded that separate components of blood are transfused from one person to another for 20 years in Russia. "We transfuse blood components: platelets, erythrocytes and plasma".

By his words, annually more than 800 thousands liters of plasma are prepared, 140 thousands liters are transformed to medications.
