On Saturday, December 10, 24-hour English-language channel Russia Today will start broadcasting. The head editor of channel Margarita Simonyan informed that every hour on Russia Today will start with 30-minute news followed by cultural or entertainment programs, documentaries, or talk-shows. Channel doesn`t have analytic programs yet.

By words of Russia Today general director Sergey Frolov, television signal will spread worldwide through 3 satellites. Russians can see channel if the set antenna for satellite channels "NTV plus".

Announcement about Russia Today channel creation appeared in the beginning of summer. TV channel will work on budget money and, by idea of officials, "must reflect Russian position in all leading questions of international politics" and "inform audience about events and phenomena of Russian life". Budget of TV channel in 2005 amounted to $30 millions. In mid-September technical broadcasting has started.
