Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko is going to pass a law of spent fuel disposal on the territory of "Chernobyl zone". Not only from the republic but from other countries.
"That is long-term outlook which must be approved by society in the first place", - said the head of the state and added he was not going to make the decision of spent fuel disposal in Chernobyl without society?s approval even with economic basing, "From-UA" reported.

The probable place of fuel disposal is the second storehouse of Chernobyl atomic power-plant (Storehouse for Nuclear Fuel Waste -2) which might secure long-term storage of all spent fuel. It was arranged to be placed in operation in 2003 but the project?s realization was stopped because of its considerable disadvantages.

Nevertheless international audit of second storehouse building works is being conducted now. In case of the beginning of construction work the storehouse could be prepared after 4.5 years.

According to Yushchenko Europear reconstruction and development bank noticed effectiveness of Swiss auditing company work which is busy with the storehouse. The president is sure auditors end their work before the end of this year.
