The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service`s Moscow department has brought an action against TV presenter Marianna Maksimovskaya. The suit concerns one of the programmes release, with the item about Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Penitentiary department demands to deny the information about a hunger strike of former CEO of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky in protest of sending Platon Lebedev to isolation ward, as false. However, claim is laid also against lawyers of imprisoned oligarchs for their unacceptable comments, discrediting the penitentiary department reputation.
The court is scheduled on December 19. There is no information if Khodorkovsky?s attorneys are going to present on it. Yury Shmidt is on leave at the moment, as for Eugeny Baru, he leaves on business trip to Kharp settlement, where Platon Lebedev serves his sentence. said he feared some "scoundrels" could be put into Khodorkovsky`s prison cell.
Ren TV said it intends to defend its employee in court, therefore Marianna Maksimovskaya is going to be in court.
