Powerful snowfall, which has started yesterday in the evening and continues till present moment, has almost paralyzed automobile traffic in Moscow and caused many traffic accidents.

Moscow municipal economy informed that 6-10 cm of snow fell this night. State automobile inspection appeals to drivers to refuse from trips on personal automobile today and use public transport. Weather forecasters warn that it will be snowing all day.

It should be emphasized that after snowy night roads are covered with melting snow, which creates especially unfavorable conditions for automobile drivers. Moreover, such weather contributes to formation of ice-crusted ground and icicles.

At present moment the height of snow cover in center of the town is 12 cm and exceeds 20 cm in the suburbs. The highest snowdrifts are located in the east of near-Moscow - till 32 cm. The snowfall can continue next several days; therefore amount of snow can increase by 10-15 cm.
