Radio "Svoboda" stopped broadcasting on medium waves in St.Petersburg Radio "Svoboda" has stopped broadcasting on medium waves in St.Petersburg and Leningrad region, declared the correspondent of radio "Svoboda" St.Petersburg bureau Tatiana Volovich. She emphasized, that there was no politics underlying the decision, FM-broadcasting goes on a frequency 72,4.

"Switching off medium waves broadcasting is connected with received FM-broadcasting, so there was doubling", explained Volovich.

"We`ve been informed about future switch off long ago, at first it was agreed on July 1, but later the contract was prolonged up to January 1. Radio "Baltica" retranslated us", she added.

Volovich also informed, that radio "Svoboda" management, located in Prague, didn?t warn the Petersburg bureau officially about finishing broadcasting on medium waves.
