Dagestan authorities toughen measures against possible penetration of bird flu virus from Turkey to the republic.

"We have to do our best to exclude spread of infection here", said the first Vice Minister of Dagestan Nizami Kaziev at emergency meeting of corresponding services heads.

The meeting participants noted, the one of the main problems was Dagestan pilgrims return from Saudi Arabia after hajj to Islam sacred objects. Totally, 7391 Dagestan citizen celebrated Muslim holiday Kurban Bayram in Mecca.

About 4500 pilgrims are to return to Russia by surface transport. In this connection Coordination council on their return roundabout infected Turkish provinces is decided to be established.

The first group return by surface transport is expected on January 13, by air transport on January 14.
