19 ancient icons have been stolen from the church in the village Spas-Ugol, situated near Moscow.

The theft complaint was brought to militia by 44 year old senior priest of Transfiguration church, situated in the village Spas-Ugol.

According to his words, in addition to icons parish donations, about 10 thousand rubles, have been stolen.

He said, no service was performed from January 8 to the morning of January 10. In this period someone broke the church doors open and stole icons and money.

Aggregate damage is being defined. Search for criminals is being conducted.

Churches situated near Moscow are often robbed and loose their icons this way. So, in the beginning of July, 2005 four icons and the Gospel disappeared from the church of Smolensk Holy Mother in Klinski district of the region. The thieves penetrated in the church through the window.
