Pancake week begins tomorrow. According to Russian Orthodox calendar, Pancake Week is commemorated right before Lent.

Monday is called "Meeting" - this is the day when people meet Pancake Week, dress up a rag-doil dummy and build ice-hills.

In Yekaterinburg out-door festival dedicated to Pancake Week were already held on Shartash Lake on February 25. City citizens could buy pancakes and plunge into the ice-hole, cut in the lake ice.

Regional House of Folklore is also planning to hold the out-door festival during the festive week.

The city out-door festival with traditional Russian pancakes, theatre performances and fisticuffs is being held on Vosnesenskaya Gorka on March 5.
