Serbia began hearing the sale of Naftna Industrija Srbija AD (NIS) of " Gazprom Neft " in 2009, said Minister of internal Affairs of Serbia, Nebojsa Stefanovich.

Gazprom Neft has invested five hundred million euros in the modernization of the NIS in the last 3 years. Buying NIS allowed OAO Gazprom to observe 51% in local gas organization South Stream Serbia AG, responsible for the construction of the gas pipeline " South stream " at the site, which runs through Serbia. Before the end of the current year in Serbia will be constructed 30 km of the gas pipeline " South stream ".
