From July 2005 over 1.3 million birds were annihilated on territory of Russian Federation.

These measures were taken for prevention of bird flu spread. In particular, 20 thousand birds were killed during the day, 20 thousand cases of bird loss were recorded.

400 thousand birds died of bird flu in Russia since last summer. At the same moment cases of bird flu among people are not revealed.

By data of Emergency Ministry, 3 waves of bird flu illness were registered on Russian territory. First wave passed in July-September of 2005 along Siberia, Ural and Volga region. Then 600 thousand birds were killed, about 17 thousand died from disease.

In the period from October to January 8 thousand birds were annihilated during second wave, 1.5 thousand perished.

Third stage of disease spread, which started in February of current year on territory of Southern federal region, became the most serious and scaled one. Almost 670 thousand birds were exterminated and 380 thousand died as a result of illness.

At present moment pestholes are controlled by experts of Emeregency Ministry in 5 objects. They are Dagestan, Kalmykia, Adygei, Stavropol and Krasnodar regions.
