The newly elected Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Onufry promised to preserve canonical unity with the Russian Orthodox Church, informs the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

The UOC is a self-governing Church Of the Russian Orthodox Church. The election of the new Primate of the UOC-MP was held in Kyiv on August 13.
