The new head of the Kyiv metropolis promised to maintain the unity of the ROC
The newly elected Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Onufry promised to preserve canonical unity with the Russian Orthodox Church, informs the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).

The UOC is a self-governing Church Of the Russian Orthodox Church. The election of the new Primate of the UOC-MP was held in Kyiv on August 13. Of the 74 candidates by a majority vote of the head of the Kyiv Metropolitan Department elected Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna Onuphrius, who from February 2014 has performed the duties of the vicar of the Kyiv Department. The solemn enthronement of Metropolitan Onufry on his throne will be held on August 17.
