Scientists counted leopards and Amur tigers in Primorie Calculation of Far East leopards and Amur tigers comes to end in Primorie.

As administration of Primorsky krai reported, officials of administration on especially protected natural resources, Biological and Soil institute and Pacific geographical institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, representatives of public organizations collected information on the base of all predators` traces.

Twice per winter, in December and in February (during hunting season and after its end), experts walked along registered routes and recorded animal tracks.

Besides calculation of prints scientists use modern methods of investigation, such as photo traps - automatic cameras, which take pictures of animals in field of vision. This method of wild animals` calculation was successfully tested in many world countries.

By tentative data, there are 30-40 species of Far East leopards left with habitat in Khasansky and Ussuriisky regions. There are 500 species of Amur tigers.
