Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the federal law "About counter-acting terrorism", the Head of State press service has informed on Monday. This law was passed by State Duma on February 26 and approved by the Council of Federation on March 1, 2006.

As follows from the law preamble, it "sets the major principals of counter-acting terrorism, legal and organizational basis for terrorism prevention and fight against it, minimization and (or) liquidation of the consequences of terrorism manifestation, as well as legal and organizational basis of attracting Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in struggle against terrorism".
