The possibility of primitive forms of life existence on Mars cannot be completely excluded, for example, this may be bacteria, the academic adviser of the academy of engineering RF Yuri Zaitsev believes.

"The scientists cannot explain at the moment the source of high level of methane in the atmosphere of Mars. Therefore the most exotic assumptions shouldn`t be excluded, for example, the existence of metanogene bacteria at the depth of over two kilometers, which release methane as a result of vital activity, on Mars", Zaytsev stated on Tuesday.

He reminded that similar uncommon forms of life have been discovered not long ago in the deep underground ecosystems of the Earth.
