Ambassadors of the European Union in favour of punishment, adopted first for Russia, reports on Tuesday, the Agency, citing sources in the EU.

" We maintain the status quo, " said one of the bureaucrats of the EU following the discussion on the implementation of the Treaty on the stop-fire between the Kyiv authorities and militias of Donbass.

" No one even raised the question of the possible (the sanctions), taking into consideration the current situation, " added the official.

Relations between Russia and the West deteriorated in connection with the situation in Ukraine. At the end of July, the EU and the US imposed sanctions against entire sectors of the Russian economy, as well as among them, banking and energy. In response, Russia restricted imports of agricultural goods from a country that has imposed in relation to penalties: USA, EU, Canada, Australia and Norway.


The US and EU do not recognize the annexation of Crimea to Russia and accused Moscow of interfering in Ukraine. Russia denies it and calls the accusations are unacceptable. Western countries since March has repeatedly imposed punishment on a number of Russian politicians, businessmen and organizations and threatened to make wider restrictive measures. The last case of the use of such practices began in September punishment.
