Poroshenko tried to persuade Parliament to repeal the parliamentary immunity
The head of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed the wish to abolish parliamentary privacy, informs the press service of the Ukrainian President.
" I dream that one of the first initiatives of the Parliament was to cancel at least for the next Verkhovna Rada Deputy immunity. I think that we make sure that you build a free democratic state ", - said the Head of the country during the communication with the authorized media in Lviv on the last working day of the week, RIA " Novosti ". According to the comments of the President, the parliamentary immunity is not obliged to obstruct the investigation of criminal cases, and after its abolition citizens will not go to Parliament only in order to receive protection. The President expressed the hope that, as long as such a decision is not accepted, the newly elected Parliament in case of confirmation of the guilt of those or other deputies must " be free from any immunity, regardless of what political party he belongs." A number of Ukrainian deputies who oppose punitive operations in the East of the country, be subjected to persecution from the new authorities and their supporters. For example, on September 25, the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine in connection with the conversion of the Parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchynov has registered a case under the criminal code about the " encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine against the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, who visited the Russian state Duma on 17 September.
