Ukrainian police opened 403 criminal cases involving violations during the electoral process in Parliament, informs on Wednesday the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Most of the offences registered in Kiev and the region, but mainly in Donetsk, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk and Zhytomyr regions.

Extraordinary elections to the Verkhovna Rada were held in Ukraine on October 26. Before the elections in the country have tightened criminal liability for bribery of voters and other violations of the electoral law. The law provides for punishment of imprisonment for up to seven years for bribing voters. First for such violation of the law was provided by the liability in the form of imprisonment for up to five years. In addition, the law contains a new feature in the form of retribution for sale by the voter of his voice. For such unlawful act introduces criminal responsibility in the form of a fine in the amount of from 1700 to 5400 UAH (from 130 to $ 400).
