English actor Benedict Cumberbatch apologized for the incorrect statement in the address of black co-workers. Star of TV series "Sherlock" called himself a fool.

The scandal Cumberbatch caused his replica on TV talk shows, in which he declared that the United States just as before ahead of England in regard to the working places for black artists. And all would do, if he had not called African Americans "colored".

"I think the situation with colored artists radically different from that which prevails in England. Many of my friends in the US a lot more opportunities for career development. I am inclined to think that this must change," said Cumberbatch host asked about the triumph of the English black artists Civitella of Ejiofor ("12 years of slavery") and David Oyelowo ("Selma".)

Incorrect epithet caused a flurry of criticism of the actor, nominated for an Oscar for her role phenomenal math-homosexual Alan Turing in the movie "Playing the imitation". Cumberbatch immediately repented and issued a statement in which he apologized for the use of inappropriate and outdated terminology.

"I'm not trying to make excuses - I'm a fool, and realize what has been done will not return. I can only hope that this conflict will emphasize the need for correct use of terminology that is accurate and not offensive," said the actor, adding that he was even more ashamed of their offense, because he used the incorrect term when talking about racial inequality among artists in Britain.
