Crimean authorities consider more than one hundred proposals for desalination
Crimean authorities consider more than one hundred proposals for desalination of sea water, but none of them has no economic justification, said the head of the State Department of water management and melioration of the Crimea Igor Weil.

before Ukraine was provided to 85% of the needs of the Crimea in fresh water after coming from the Dnieper river in the North-Crimean canal. Most water was used for agriculture. After the reunification of the Crimea with Russia water flow in a given channel in the Republic was completely stopped.

today the problem of water supply in Crimea was not completely solved by transferring water from the Crimean river Biyuk-Karasu in the North-Crimean canal, and the creation of underground sources. As another option, consider installation of a sea water desalting plants in the coastal regions.

"today we have more than a hundred proposals in the Council of Ministers of Crimea different companies, different representations, about the fact that they own desalination technologies, they are willing to provide, construct, but none of these proposals were not under a cost-based calculations. These are firms that want to participate in our programs at the expense of our money, " said Weill, noting that the head of the Republic Sergey Aksenov strictly controls any such proposals.

One of such proposals, According to Weil, came from serious Israeli organization.

He also noticed that in the 1st place, if will be approved installation strategy desalting plants, they will be installed in regions where there is shortage of drinking water - Kerch, Lenin, Sudak, Feodosia.

Weil said that every project to install a Watermaker will be required to undergo environmental review.

The official said that considered the question of the restoration of water supply in Crimea in the North-Crimean canal, however, It will be decided at the Federal and state level, the competence of the region is not enough.

"today, our competence is not enough, because the North-Crimean canal became transboundary water supply which is regulated by special regulations, i.e. the intergovernmental agreement," said Weil.
