The EU will eliminate nationalist sentiment in Ukraine, hopes Churkin
Olga Denisova. Russia hopes that the EU mission to reform the civil Security sector in Ukraine will help to eradicate nationalism in law enforcement and the judiciary, said Russia's Permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin.

"Closely monitoring the activities of the Advisory mission to the EU to reform the civil Security sector in Ukraine (EUAM Ukraine), which was launched on 1 December 2014," said Churkin at the meeting of the Security Council for cooperation with the European Union.

"We believe that the mission, among other things, will help to eradicate nationalism in Ukrainian law enforcement and judicial authorities. One of its main tasks at this stage are seeing in the judicial evaluation activities punitive battalions, the so-called "private armies" in the South-East of Ukraine, and assistance in solving illegal Ukrainian armed forces, " said the diplomat.

Also, according to him, Moscow hopes to hear from the mission's assessment of the law "about the cleansing power" (on lustration) and other obligatory acts " aimed at infringement of the rights of certain groups of inhabitants of the Ukrainian society ".

Speaking of nationalist sentiment in Ukraine, Churkin recalled that a national holiday in the country was declared a day of collaborationist creation of the Ukrainian insurgent army, " organized by the Nazis to allow punitive operations in the occupied territories ".

The Ambassador expressed bewilderment that the EU until now did not respond.
