Finland did not like that the United States "noisy swords" in Estonia and Latvia, holding tank doctrine in the vicinity of its borders. This statement was made by the Minister for foreign Affairs powers Erkki Tuomioja.

In his view, NATO wants to significantly expand their presence in the Baltics, and it's just depressing Helsinki.

Since the autumn of last year, the United States put 10's of tanks in Latvia and Estonia and conduct in these States teachings. Now, however, expected arrival fighter squadrons of the air force of the United States: 14 F-16 landed on the Amari airbase near Tallinn. The head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry believes that the cause of today's Moscow's actions must be sought in the events of 25 years ago: now Russia feels besieged.

"It is likely that something could have been done differently," he admitted, referring to the policy of Western States in the post-Soviet years and the expansion of NATO to the East, contrary to the obligations not to do it.
