On June 18, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. As a REGNUM correspondent was told at the Azerbaijani presidential press office, during the meeting the presidents expressed their satisfaction with the successful Azerbaijan-Georgian relations in economy, power engineering, and transportation.

They also pointed out increasing role of the GUAM and role of the organization in development of the bilateral relations. The presidents expressed confidence that the ties would be extended in the frameworks of both the regional organization and other international institutions.

On the same day, Ilham Aliyev received the presidents of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania, who are also in Baku now participating in the GUAM summit.

At the meeting with President Viktor Yushchenko, the presidents also spoke about the increasing role of the GUAM, activity of which is serving interests of the two nations in international politics
