Half the growth in world population will occur in Africa
According to the UN report, Nigeria will overtake the US to become the third populous country in the world by 2050.

According to the forecast World Population Prospects 2017, currently 7 populous country in the world, the West African nation, according to forecasts, will exceed 300 million people by 2050. The report predicted that by 2050 the world population will reach a staggering 9.8 billion people, and it is projected that more than half of the expected growth in the period from 2017 to 2050 is likely to occur in Africa.

The five African countries that will contribute most to the growth of the world population. According to the UN, with a population of over 180 million people in Nigeria 2010-2015 annually increased population growth is about 2.7%. High fertility, high child mortality and cultural value of large families were cited as factors leading to the boom of the population of Nigeria.

Home to four of the fastest growing cities in the world, it has been described as economic power. However, there are fears that the increase in population could harm the Nigerian already inadequate infrastructure.

Democratic Republic of Congo is the largest country in Francophone Africa with an annual population growth of 3.2%. As in Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Afghanistan, the high birth rate contributed to the increase in population of the country. The fertility rate in 2016 was a 4.53 children per woman.

The country's capital, Kinshasa, has the third-largest urban agglomeration on the continent and, according to forecasts, by 2025, will add over 6 million people to their populations, strengthening its status of the African metropolis.

Ethiopia is the second populous country in Africa and the 14th - most populous in the world. In the period from 2010 to 2015, it increased by 2.5% per year. In addition to the population boom, the country experienced economic recovery and intends to become a medium-income country by 2025.

The country's capital and largest city is Addis Ababa, plays an important role, but the rapid development of the city led to tensions and accusations of marginalization. From 2010 to 2015 Tanzania has experienced an annual population growth rate of 3.2%, and its population, according to forecasts, by 2050 will exceed 130 million.

Early motherhood, high fertility and falling mortality rates are some of the reasons for the explosion of the population in Tanzania. Uganda has one of the fastest growing populations in the world. In the period from 2010 to 2015 annual rate of population growth was 3.3%. As in many African countries, high fertility rates are the main determinant of the population of Uganda. It has the fifth highest birth rate. According to the world Bank, Kampala, the capital of the country will experience rapid urbanization, and the population will increase from 6 million in 2013 to over 20 million by 2040.
