The first virus for mobile phones supporting Java technologies is found. It is said in the announcement of the Kasperski Laboratory - the Russian creator of antiviral programs.
In the company they refined, that to infection by Trojan program, been called according to the classification of virus analysts name Trojan-SMS.J2ME.RedBrowser.a, are subjected not only smartphones, but also all the cell phones, supporting Java platform.
This "Trojan" is Java- application: it can be loaded to the telephone as from the Internet (WAP- site), so by other methods - through Bluetooth-connection or from the personal computer.
Virus is oriented to the subscribers of the largest Russian mobile operators - MTS, Beeline, Megaphone, it is noted in the communication.
"Fortunately, this Trojan program can easily be removed by the user with the aid of the standard utilities of the telephone" it is said in the press release.
Virus is disguised as the program, making it possible to attend WAP- sites without the need for tuning WAP- connection. According to the authors of program, this possibility is reached due to the sending and receiving of free SMS. "Trojan" sends SMS to some paid mobile services. For each similar message from the account of the user $5-6 are removed.
Company warn that, in spite of the fact that they discovered only one model of virus, in the network for sure there are its other versions. In the opinion of the specialists of the Kasperski Laboratory, appearance of RedBrowser is the sign of that the creators of viruses enlarge their "mobile scope" and exceed the limits of the sphere of expensive smartphones.
Experts call the users of cell phones to the maximum vigilance and they do not advise to entrust to proposals to load unknown applications and programs from the Internet. The J2ME technology (Java for the mobile devices), developed by company Sun Microsystems, it was represented in 1999. The key element of technology is the Java- virtual machine KVM (Kilobyte Virtual Machine), which due to its small size (160 KB) can function on the small devices with the limited resources.
