Chinese President XI Jinping discussed the situation with North Korea and Syria with US President Donald trump, in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China.
Trump repeatedly called on China to do more to rein in their unruly neighbor, who in 2016 has intensified its missile development and nuclear programs. The United States sent to the region aircraft carrier, after the recent tests by North Korea last week, causing a strong warning to Pyongyang.
The phone call happened between them after the trump expressed on Twitter his dissatisfaction with North Korea. "I told the President of China that the trade agreement with the United States will be much more profitable for them if they will solve the North Korean problem," he wrote on Twitter. "North Korea looking for trouble, if China decides to help, that would be great, if not, we will solve the problem without them!" - told the trump.
According to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of China (MFA), XI reiterated that China wants to create a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and called for peace and stability. "China advocates resolving the issue peacefully and is ready to maintain communication and coordination with the United States on the issue of the Korean Peninsula," reads the statement si. The two leaders first met last week at the estate of Mar-a-Lago in Florida and had lunch, when the United States began to strike at the Syrian airport.
After the meeting, trump-si U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson said that China understands the threat was the nuclear program of North Korea, and agreed to take action to stop it.
