Ren TV presenter Marianna Maksimovskaya on trial

The Russian Federal Penitentiary Service`s Moscow department has brought an action against TV presenter Marianna Maksimovskaya. The suit concerns one of the programmes release, with the item about Mikhail Khodorkovsky. Penitentiary department demands to deny the information about a hunger strike of former CEO of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky in protest of sending Platon Lebedev to isolation ward, as false. However, claim is laid also against lawyers of imprisoned oligarchs for their unacceptable comments, discrediting the penitentiary department reputation.

Two experts arrested on case of swimming pool collapse in Chusovoi

The office of Public Prosecutor obtained sanction for arrest of the LLC "UralPromExpert" employees Alexei Shvetsov and Kelsiy Sannikov. On December 12 the prosecutor managed to convince the court of need to arrest both detainees on the case of the swimming pool collapse, informed the Prosecutor-General of Russia deputy Sergei Gerasimov. The matter concerns the swimming pool roof collapse in Chusovoi town of Permsky krai on December 4 2005. Four women and 10 children died under the ruins, 18 people were injured.
